The Newcastleton Traditional Music Festival is one of the longest continuously running music festival's in Scotland and is held on the first weekend in July since 1969.
The festival hosts a series of competitions, linked by dances, organised ceilidhs and singarounds. Running from Friday evening, throughout Saturday and finishes on Sunday, although you will find groups still singing and playing well after the official events have finished!
Competitors and non competitors can be found throughout the village in all sorts of venues creating music and song throughout the weekend. Visitors are welcome at all the venues.
One of the most popular events is the Grand Winners' Concert on Saturday evening featuring the best of the day's competitors coupled with the best of the rest, a memorable evening and well attended.
Accommodation during the weekend is normally booked well in advance, please check the local accommodation listings on this web site. However, many homes open their doors to visitors so check the music festival web site for further details. To cope with demand the local playing field and riverside allows camping and caravanning - get here early to secure a pitch.
